Photography manual detailing many aspects of the photographic process including camera usage, lenses, films and plates, wetplate process, tripods, darkroom and photo processing, various photo printing papers, chemicals, lighting, how to photograph in parks and gardens with detailed diagrams, microscopy, etc. Published by Konishi Honten or Konishi Main Shop, the large Tokyo based photo supplier founded in 1878 and one of the largest Japanese photo retailers of the Meiji era. This company became Konishiroku Honten in 1921 which went on to publish and sponsor many photo journals and magazines. Today, this company is the multinational Konica Corporation.
Hard cover. Third printing, released on April 5, 1912 (first edition published November 18, 1904). A total of 354 pages including text and photographic advertisement. Some pages contain illustrations, charts, maps and diagrams.
Size: 5 1/4 inches x 7 1/2 inches (133 mm x 192 mm).
Condition: Good, with the first 24 pages bent in the lower left corner. Cover is lightly shelf worn. Otherwise a very good example of a photography how-to book just as the amateur photography boom was starting in Japan.
